make me! 2023
I was inspired to create the collection by the word RYCZKA – a low seat, usually used when working in the countryside. The aim of the project is to bring back to life, stools similar to ryczka – known since antiquity, but unnoticed. Different cultural circles have different forms of low seats, containing different meanings and identities. Therefore, during my ethnographic research, I distinguished nine icons/archetypes, representing stools of similar construction. No icon comes from a specific place or time, rather their forms have reappeared in different locations and historical periods.
Collection refers to four of the icons I have featured: stump, ryczka, milkman’s stool, bourgeois stool.
