Shoetopia is a 3D printed urban shoes manufacturing system. The shoes are personalised and biodegradable. They consist of interchangeable components, joined without gluing or sewing: an openwork, resilient sole and an upper, created using a proprietary method of printing on fabric. Thanks to the use of textiles, they are foot-friendly. The design has the form of a parametric model, working with a dedicated foot measurement application. Thanks to an online wizard, one can customise the look of their shoes. Innovation (extending the possibilities of 3D printing by combining it with fabric; future vision of product distribution in file form); systemic thinking; eco-friendliness (reducing carbon footprint; product lifecycle design, including repair and disposal); functionality (textile upper, resilient and lightweight sole); health benefits (better fit of footwear, thanks to customization); ethics (transparency of production process, vegan raw materials).
