The Acutobtus LAMP is a lampshade designed to incorporate the commonly available E27 light bulb holder. The object is based on stencils, cut mechanically from polypropylene sheets. Its three-dimensional form comes into being by attaching the individual tabs using a cotton rope. The clear, semi-translucent polypropylene diffuses the glow of the bulb, mitigating the harshness of its light. The white stencil with a circular opening allows for an optimum illumination of the plane above which the lamp is positioned. It can serve both as a ceiling lamp, a table lamp or a floor lamp. The product was designed in response to the low-cost design ideal. It is based on the simplest technological solutions and uses materials which are cheap to produce. the Acutobtus LAMP therefore constitutes an alternative to low-cost, mass produced designs.
