Aurelia

make me! 2010

A glass light fixture made with the use of a glass blowing technique. Its shape is inspired by a jellyfish. ‘Aurelia’ is the name of the species that is common in Israel. The thin long elements which function as the light fixture’s legs are drawn from five different spots of the lampshade, just like the gentle legs of a jellyfish are drawn from its wide round body. Five LEDs are fixed into the legs, and they are the light source. The delicate wiring imitates capillaries.
