With the lighting effect of the “candlamp”, my main design goal is to be able to evoke emotions regardless of space. The lamp creates this mood by interpreting a natural light, the light effect of a candle. The shape of the luminaire magnifies this tiny light and diffuses it throughout the space with an LED light source. At the same time, both natural and artificial lights are present in the luminaire, complementing and supporting each other. The flame of the candle provides the warm light effect, and the LED source amplifies and illuminates the whole space.

Switching on the lamp is also an experience for the user with the same lovely gesture as lighting a candle in the dark evening. As soon as light reaches the electronics hidden in the lamp base, it is transmitted to the LED strip and the light comes to life.

Enikő Juhász

A graduate student at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest. This summer she’ll graduate with her master’s degree in Product Design. Her previous studies were in Industrial Product Engineering, so functionality is a key part of her design process and she always try to create a working prototype of her concept. In her activities, she’s looking for harmony between modern technologies and traditional materials and methods. As a designer, Enikő find it exciting to experiment with systems and combine new applications with existing techniques.
