Plateboards are ceramic plates (mostly porcelain), whose surface has been partially spraycoated with a marker-board paint. They are made so that you can repeatedly draw on them with chalk. To create the product we used parts that factories had rejected for quality reasons. The plates are not suitable for eating off. The project was inspired by richly-painted, decorative earthenware plates, formerly fashionable, now hung on walls. Plateboards are designed to stimulate creative thinking in children. They can be used for creating an unconventional pictures hanging on the wall in the background, as well as to help in learning the alphabet, and then spelling, or for mathematical formulas.
