The Erde Wachs Stift project consists of three parts. I started the first part by searching for different soil in my surroundings and set up a private library, collecting different types of soil. During the second part, I designed crayons from the soil and wax I found. I made a set of crayons from the surrounding soil. During the third part of the project, I designed my own production facility, which allows me to produce individual crayons in small quantities (10 crayons at a time). I wanted to make something that wouldn’t be too problematic, that I could make by myself. The project shows the possibilities of a small factory – individual production of small quantities. I used these possibilities to create crayons that allow us to look at our surroundings and environment in a different way. Given the capacity of my project, I can create quite personal sets of crayons – for example, using a particular soil, from a particular place, with which the client is sentimentally connected. It is a design that shows the possibilities, but also the value of the soil. Both the crayons and their packaging are fully biodegradable.
