SWAYING LAMP

make me! 2023

The lamp was created during classes at School of Form: Object Design wood. The topic was: SWAY!

The first associations with this slogan are usually an armchair or a rocking horse. However, my experience is a bit different. I have two children who often organize a sock fight at home… and then it is the lamp that swings the most. So I decided to design a lamp that, on the one hand, refers to the situation of fun, rocking or swaying, but on the other hand is very practical in this situation it is not so easy to knock over. It also seems to me that the concept of a swaying standing lamp is rare, it surprises the recipient and provokes reflection on the standard perception of the function and form of everyday objects.

The lamp is made of steamed beech wood, cut in CNC technology, finished by hand. I used a lampshade from an old lamp that I’ve already had.
