make me! 2014

“Swallowtail” is simply a hanging mirror that consists of four separate components. The first is a two-piece, powder-coated frame. It consists of a mild steel rim that is welded to a steel ring – spot-welded at just the right angle. The outer rim has a so-called “dovetail” connection at its base. Another element is a disk of veneered American white ash plywood, enclosed in a metal frame. The third is a powder-coated back plate, containing a keyhole-shaped hole that allows the mirror to hang and sit flat against the wall. The fourth element is the mirror itself, precisely cut so that it can be pressed firmly into a recess in the veneered base.
