make me! 2021

Uni is a versatile, waterproof and innovative rain jacket designed to meet the needs of people with mobility disabilities who use a wheelchair. The modular design of the jacket allows adapting it to the user’s ongoing needs. Once the lower part of the jacket is removed, the garment can also be used by non-disabled persons, e.g. cyclists.

  • The deep, adjustable hood with an extended peak ensures effective protection from rain and does not reduce visibility.

  • The cape protects the back and prevents water penetration.

  • Ventilation holes are placed under the cape and in the pocket pouches.

  • Waterproof zips and glued seams.

  • Adjustable lower part of the garment allows it to fit different types of wheelchairs.

  • Reflective elements on each side of the garment.

  • Modular design enables adaptation of the garment to weather conditions.

  • When folded, can be attached to the wheelchair.

The aim of the project is to create a catalogue including a sewing cut template and making instructions.

The design prototype was developed in cooperation with the Regional Centre of Social Policy in Cracow and received funding via the Lesser Poland Incubator for Social Innovation.
