doubleMEtric is a set of three carpets and jacquard fabric, dedicated to the theme of double fabric of Białystok. It was inspired by a retrospective exhibition by prof. Bolesław Tomaszkiewicz at the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź in 2014. The subject of double fabric from Białystok became the starting point for learning about ancient weaving techniques used in Podlasie. For me as a young designer, learning about tradition and the workshop is important in creating new and original forms. The main assumption of the project was to learn about an ancient weaving technique used in Podlasie in the 18th century (which is known and used today by few people). Tradition is a very important element of design; it is through tradition that we get to know ourselves, our origins and strengthen them through new projects. Learning about crafts and folk art enhances creativity and nurtures native cultural values. Double weaving is a treasure trove of culture and craftsmanship that encourages further activities.
