Today’s societies are more and more mobile. Living our lives in only one place is a thing of the past. Young people are dynamic. As they move a lot and live in small spaces, they have no choice but to possess as few items as possible. Thinking about furniture can no longer be “stationary”. Heavy and stately objects do not work in the new reality. Simplicity, ease of installation and mobility are the new qualities sought by the users – the modern nomads. Nina Woroniecka’s design answers their needs. The artist, inspired by minimalist ideas, decided to design a set of furniture “essentials”. The module set designed for modern nomads is made up of rudimentary pieces of furniture – light and easy to put together. After installing, it makes up a mobile, integrated whole. The set comprises: a mattress, a table, two stools, a small lamp, a bookstand, and some boxes for personal belongings. All the elements fit together in a chest, which together with shelves forms a bookstand, and the chest’s lid doubles as a tabletop. All the elements are made of light and easily accessible materials (birch plywood, aluminium channel bars and steel rods).
