A field chapel in Chwaszczyno

The country shrine is a place of intimate prayer and concentration. It is located on the uncultivated land by the forest, 500 meters from the church in the village of Chwaszczyno. The shrine was built with the use of natural materials, such as larch wood, which get older with time, and thus become integrated into the nature and landscape. Depending on the time of day and weather, the light changes and makes the interior look different. The form of the building is very simple – it focuses on the experience of space, materials, the smell of wood, ‘emptiness’ and the surrounding sounds.
