Palimpsest: Toolkit
The PALIMPSEST Łódź Toolkits are practical guides for anyone who wants to work with rainwater in everyday urban spaces: at home, in courtyards, at schools, or in shared green areas. They explain, step by step, how two micro-solutions developed in the Łódź pilot can help address both extremes cities increasingly face: excess water during heavy rainfall and water shortages during dry periods. Toolkit vol.1 introduces Łódź Meanders simple, modular structures made from natural materials that slow down, filter, redirect, and retain runoff. Toolkit vol. 2 presents Rain Flowers porous ceramic irrigation vessels designed to collect rainwater and release moisture gradually into the soil. Both Toolkits are designed to be accessible and easy to replicate, supporting local co-creation and small-scale action without heavy infrastructure. Download them to learn the core principles, see examples from the pilot sites, and adapt the solutions to your own context.
