Q: Exposure: Urban Dreams: Abstractions of Polish Cities

Author of collages: Mateusz Sobierajski A surrealist urban vision. Using his own photographs of urban spaces and the everyday lives of their inhabitants, the author creates multilayered narratives where architecture, nature, and people merge into an abstract whole. Through digital image manipulation techniques, the works explore the boundary between reality and imagination, offering viewers a new perspective on familiar places. The exhibition invites reflection on the relationship between humans and the city, and its dynamic nature. The exposeure was included in the Łódź Design Festival 2025 program as part of the open call open programme.

Q: Workshops: "Urban Entity – Bring the City to Life" collage workshop

During the workshop, each participant will be tasked with creating an analog collage (cutting and gluing) with the aim of imagining the city as a living entity. The city can be made to “speak” ? through form, composition, or artistic expression. Mateusz Sobierajski. Photographer and visual artist. He specializes in photo collage, creating surreal visions based on his own photographs. Inspired by the rhythm of the city and the relationship between people and space, he transforms real-life frames into unique narratives (without the use of AI). His works combine documentary elements with imagination. The workshops was included in the Łódź Design Festival 2025 program as part of the open call open programme.

What should a city that supports a long, healthy, and fulfilling life look like?

The EverCity exhibition is an invitation to think about urban space as a key to longevity – both human and urban. About a city that is not a finished product, but a living, evolving organism, capable of adapting and responding to the needs of residents at every stage of life. A city that supports us through the entire life cycle.

The exhibition showcases selected examples from around the world – ranging from small-scale interventions that improve pedestrian safety to large-scale transformations that breathe new life into public space. We explore how the elements of our surroundings influence our health, wellbeing, and social connections. How well-designed public spaces can positively impact both the quality and the length of our lives.

The exhibition’s content was developed in collaboration with Agnieszka Labus – architect, researcher, educator, and founder of LAB 60+ Foundation, which for years has been introducing the perspective of longevity into urban and architectural design in Poland. Her knowledge and experience helped us assess the presented projects through the lens of their impact on healthy, long lives.

Małgorzata Bielawska and Katarzyna Świętek, also affiliated with LAB 60+, contributed their expertise in inclusivity, accessibility, and adaptability of urban spaces to the evolving needs of society.

EverCity is more than an exhibition – it’s an invitation to reflect, engage, and take action. The exhibition space will also host additional activities: creative workshops for children, a lecture on accessibility and a city collage-making session.
