“Oikos“ is a set of acupunctures small interventions into the very fabric of cities. In the project, I have redesigned existing elements of urban architecture, such as curbs, pavements and manhole covers, in such a way to make cities safer and friendlier for non-human citizens.

These projects mainly target the synurban fauna hedgehogs, rats and pigeons – as well as other similar-sized city dwellers. A second, equally important, target group is planners, officials, designers, and all those responsible for what public spaces look like. Therefore, each of my projects is prefabricated product in designing them, I used standardised, commonly used dimensions, focused on the easy applicability of the designs and the manufacturability of production.

Olga Kozłowska

She received her education at the design faculties of Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts and Dublin’s NCAD. For the past few years she has been professionally employed at SYGNIS S.A., a deep-tech company, where she works as a designer. She has also had the opportunity to work for the University af Warsaw and education-related foundations.

In her professional practice, She’s especially intrigued by the relationship between the user and the object. Designing human (or non-human) behaviours and interactions with the object, creating new rituals and contexts.
