The exhibition Furniture – Life after Life showcases prototypes of furniture designed and crafted by second-year Interior Architecture students at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Led by Dr. Magdalena Kacprzak-Gagatek, the project exposes students not only to new life for old furniture but also to the joy of experimenting and playing with forms. The main intention of the task was to draw students’ attention to the increasing number of discarded old furniture in human environments. The annual task primarily opens up space to explore the possibilities that object transformation brings and to give them new functions and meanings. Over the years, the project has become a research platform for both the initiator and the students, jointly seeking innovative methods of imparting new values to old items. The project transcends the boundaries of traditional artistic practice, involving in-depth research into materials, renewal techniques, and their potential for reuse.
