15 years of design with meaning: must have 2025

It’s been more than a decade since the Łódź Art Center Foundation, organizer of the Łódź Design Festival, initiated the plebiscite, which today is one of the most important awards in Polish design. The must have quality mark is awarded to Polish manufacturers and designers and is a consumer recommendation.

The Board of Experts, consisting of: Kamil Białas, Anna Chwalińska, Agnieszka Gruszczyńska-Hyc, Anna Grużewska, Krzysztof Miruć, Michał Piernikowski and Hanna Rydlewska, awarded 65 exceptional products and collections in the jubilee edition, which, focusing on the highest quality and aesthetics, create locally, respond to consumer needs and, in their production processes, take care of the skillful use of resources.

The anniversary deserved an unusual setting – the uniqueness of the exhibition was taken care of by Ferwor, a Warsaw-based design studio, which created a modular and sustainable arrangement, inspired by the industrial history of Lodz. Another important element of the exhibition is the dialogue with the space of Art_Inkubator, the former warehouses of Karol Scheibler’s factory.

The exhibition was designed based on the idea of creating a unified background for the diverse products – one that allows them to be presented democratically and equally. The key idea was to make the space legible and easy to navigate, giving visitors the opportunity to shape their own path of viewing the exhibition. The choice of materials was also not accidental – we reached for fabrics that not only give lightness and delicacy to the space, but also subtly refer to the industrial history of Łódź. We treated the existing infrastructure of the building with respect – we used the grid of columns and the rhythm of the windows, repeating their cutouts in the exhibition structure. The whole is complemented by a subdued color scheme – elegant, but not competing with the objects. Pawel Paciorek (Ferwor)

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the plebiscite, two special anniversary awards will be presented at the must have gala. The manufacturer’s anniversary award will be received by the Noti brand, which has won the most must have titles over the years, becoming a symbol of quality and innovation.

The utility presentation of the Noti collection will be located on the Theater Stage at the ŁDF Festival Center. It will be a venue for events with guests using modular seating from the Daaz collection and the Kori armchair, which Piotr Kuchcińskki designed for Noti.
