Łódź Meander

On July 26, during Łódź’s birthday celebrations, workshops were held in Abramowski Park as part of the PALIMPSEST project, devoted to nature-based solutions in the context of urban water management.

Participants worked on the next version of Łódź Meander – a prototype, fully natural structure supporting rainwater retention. The meander is designed not only to retain moisture, but also to strengthen the local ecosystem, protect the root system of trees, and contribute to the regeneration of degraded park greenery.

During the workshops, we tested wool as a construction material for the first time – we are observing how it absorbs and retains water in urban conditions. The plan is to place the meander in the park as an experimental ecological installation.

This is the next stage in the development of tools that combine environmental concerns with urban space design.

The workshop was led by Deer Garden. Naturalnie

The event is part of the PALIMPSEST pilot program, an international project aimed at co-creating sustainable, open, and creative urban spaces based on local needs and heritage.
