“Zmiana” (“Change”) is a home furnishing set consisting of five pieces: a chair, a table, a stool, a shelf, and a candle holder in three variants. Each element is made from materials found in a scrapyard. By transforming these reclaimed materials into everyday items, it aligns with the idea of creative management of excess waste. The concept is inspired by my father’s craftsmanship over the past decades and by observing how handmade products take shape in garage workshops. Zygmunt (father), was invited to join the project as a co-author and co-creator, contributing his knowledge and experience. Each piece is the result of domestic processing of found metal waste, giving them a unique character. The aim of the project is to draw attention to the modern issue of excess, which stems from a world of instant availability. What’s more, the project draws from the DIY ethos associated with the shortages of the previous era.
