Statement of the Łódź Art Center Foundation – the 2026 edition of the Łódź Design Festival will not take place

Over the past months, we have been working on preparations for the jubilee, 20th edition of the Łódź Design Festival. Our goal was to deliver an event whose substantive quality and organizational standards would reflect the history of the festival and meet the expectations of its audiences.

After analyzing the economic situation and our organizational capacity, we have decided to cancel this year’s edition.

This decision was made during the preparation stage, before ticket sales had begun.

Under the current circumstances, we are not able to prepare the 20th edition of the festival in a format and at a scale that would be responsible and appropriate to its significance. We do not want to organize the event solely to maintain continuity. Since its beginning, Łódź Design Festival has been guided by the principles of quality, responsibility, and professional organizational standards, and we do not intend to depart from them.

At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the Łódź Art Center Foundation remains active and continues to carry out projects under the Łódź Design Festival banner throughout the year. These include, among others, installations in public space, research activities, a podcast, exhibitions, workshops, and interdisciplinary initiatives organized with partners in Poland and abroad.

In the coming period, we will focus on analyzing future directions and developing possible scenarios for further development.

We remain in contact with our partners, collaborators, and the wider community. We will communicate further decisions through our official channels.
